When you want to import your media inventory, there are 2 possible scenarios:
1. All your content is clean and ready for broadcast, and you want to segment it to insert advertising tunnels.
2. Your content is not clean, and needs to be re-segmented (beginning, middle and end).
FastCut is a separate module, and is not activated by default.
If you wish, please contact your account manager to activate the module for a monthly fee.
To access it, please refer to the links provided during setup.
Basic operation
FastCut works in conjunction with the FTP storage provided with an Okast Channels instance, and the metadata CSV is available as an attachment at the end of this article.
To import media in batches :
- Connect to FTP storage with an FTP client (e.g. cyberduck, transmit, etc.).
- Drag and drop the media between your hard disk and the remote FTP storage.
- Wait during transfer (this often takes a while).
- Log in to the FastCut management interface.
- Go to the "Metadata" tab and upload the completed .CSV file.
Please note: For FastCut to recognize the media listed in the CSV, it is mandatory to match the full names of the media in the FTP storage with column #1 "filename" of the CSV. If the filename of a line in the CSV does not correspond to a file present, the media will be ignored during import.
- Return to the "Main" tab.
- Click on "input file" to display the list of detected media.
- Select the media one after the other and click on the "import Metadata" button to associate the contents of the CSV fields with the media.
- Finally, click on "Create process order" to start processing the media.
-> Your media are processed one by one!
You can follow the progress of processing and transcoding by clicking on the Status tab.
