iKast does not manage contents (video files) but does reference a list of contents that you want to sell for licensing.
Structure
So, Content is represented by a list of metadata in your Catalog:
a Type, describing its normal usage and typology
Video File: meaning an already produced content ready for typically VOD, or TV
Live stream: a stream from a linear TV channel or an internet streaming link
Podcast: audio-only content
a Custom ID: an open field you can use to mention a reference of this content in any of your own systems. This field is not mandatory
Title: the title of the content, max 255 characters
Description: a free zone to introduce your content, max 3000 characters. This field is not mandatory
Illustration: a picture like a poster, or any illustration helping people to visualize your content. This field is not mandatory
Duration of the content
To add Content to your catalog, you can create it and add all information in a dedicated page in the User Interface (UI) or import from files.
In both situations, content has a Statut representing its availability in the system:
New (illustrated by a black dot) means the Content has been created but is not available for any licensing;
Private (illustrated by a gray dot) means the Content is available for licensing only by yourself. It can not be seen by any Partners you are connected to;
Available (illustrated by a green dot) means the Content is not for any licensing by yourself or any of your connected partners;
Blocked (illustrated by a red dot) means the Content has an issue in a Contract.
Life Cycle
At any moment you can change the status from new to available or private. You can move from available or private status only if this Content is not already included in an active Contract.
You can delete a Content only if it is not already included in any active Contract.
Note: there is no limits in term of how many Content you can manage in the system.
