Your stream source is not connected
If you have a message stating that your feed is not connected:
- Check that you have entered the correct URL and streaming key in your encoder (e.g. OBS). A bad copy and paste or a forgotten saving of these parameters is sometimes the reason of the problem.
- Check your encoder settings. We recommend the following settings:
VIDEO CODEC | H.264 (x264 may work) |
FRAME RATE | 25 or 30 |
KEYFRAME INTERVAL | 2 secs (or 2x frame rate) |
SCANNING | Progressive |
ENCODING BITRATE | Constant (CBR) |
AUDIO CODEC | AAC |
AUDIO BITRATE | 128 kbps |
AUDIO CHANNELS | 2 (Stereo) |
AUDIO SAMPLE RATE | 48 kHz (48,000 Hz) |
Check the bitrate (bottom right for OBS), if it is constant (or at 0 kb/s) there is a problem.
- Stop the stream on OBS and restart it. Disconnect from the OKAST Back-Office and come back to the live page. If this doesn’t work, try to restart OBS.
- Check the OBS version, we recommend downloading the latest version of the software, at least version 26.0. If it still doesn’t work, try with another encoder.
- Your uplink is not powerful enough to send the stream to our streaming server. To check, go for example to https://www.speedtest.net/ and note the upload rate information. Depending on the quality of the content you want to live stream, here are our minimum upload speed recommendations:
Résolution | Fps | Bitrate | Débit Montant Minimum |
720p | 30fps | 3000 kbps | 3,7 Mbps |
720P | 60fps | 4500 kbps | 5,6 Mbps |
1080p | 30fps | 5000 kbps | 5,6 Mbps |
1080p | 60fps | 6000 kbps | 7,5 Mbps |
Warning: on shared connections, this theoretical throughput can be shared between several users. So we recommend to have at least 3 times the minimum amount of bandwidth in the bandwidth test.
Poor quality image
- The movements are not fluid: it is certainly due to a frame rate too low (less than 25fps). Try to increase to 50 or 60 fps (especially if it’s a sport video). In any case, we recommend doing a maximum of tests beforehand to find the perfect configuration. Warning: if you change the setting on your camera or capture device, change it on your encoder as well (and vice versa).
- The image is jerky or barely appears: it may be a problem with your internet connection or your encoder. You can try to restart the encoder or stream at a lower resolution (from 1080p to 720p).
- Grey image or regular image loss: check your internet connection. If it is low, lower the bitrate.
